Southern Chile

Event Date: 9th September 2022, 19:00

Event Category: Talk / Conference

Location: Fremington parish hall

Join us for Dr David Thomas’ presentation, including photos, of the special flora and fauna of Chile.

David is a retired zoologist with research interests in the adaptations of animals to difficult environments. He has travelled around the world studying a range of habitats. In this talk he looks at how the Andes form an effective barrier tending to isolate the Chilean side from the Argentinian side. This includes looking at high altitude species and the influence of the Atacama which isolates habitats to its south from those to its north. This leads to lots of Chilean and Andean “Specials” plus spectacular scenery.

There will be a break for refreshments part way through the talk and there will be time for questions at the end of the presentation
