The North Devon Coast AONB is defined by its Special Qualities. These are what make our AONB so special. There are 14 Special Qualities and for each of these we have chosen a place within the AONB where you can see what we mean.

Special Quality 9 – Rare and fragile quality of wilderness in Braunton Burrows and on the Hartland coast.

There are few places in North Devon that appear truly wild and remote and yet the vast dune system at Braunton Burrows, despite its proximity to settlements and seaside resorts provide a rare example of wilderness, particularly when you walk between within the valleys flanked by the vast range of sandhills.
