The North Devon Coast AONB is defined by its Special Qualities. These are what make our AONB so special. There are 14 Special Qualities and for each of these we have chosen a place within the AONB where you can see what we mean.

Special Quality 9 –  Rare and fragile quality of wilderness in Braunton Burrows and on the Hartland coast.

Despite the resident and summer visitor populations, area of rare wilderness can still be found.  Walking the coast path near Hartland Quay and Speke’s Mill, this stretch of coastline almost devoid of human influence other than pastoral farming.
