This little know gem can’t be found on any maps, but North Devon’s very own Shebberton race course opened on September 27, 1922. it was described by the Gazette as the “most beautifully situated race course in England”. Views from Croyde to Hartland and Lundy, and with a view of the racing from start to finish without the aid of a grandstand, the racecourse attracted spectators from far and wide. But due to ill health of the owner, Shebberton survived for only three years. Today, the only visible remain is the Old Race Course bungalow which was the former clubhouse.
