The Team

Based at the Devon County Council offices, Taw View, Barnstaple, the team of two and a half core staff plus project staff work for the National Landscape. The team help to deliver the Management Plan by: making things happen, working with partners, advising on planning, obtaining external funding, developing projects, engaging communities and businesses, delivering results and outcomes to make a difference.

National Landscape Lead Officer – Chrissie Ingle

A member of the team since Nov 2025 Chrissie’s area of work includes developing projects that support nature and climate resilience, and health and wellbeing, as well as monitoring landscape change.  A North Devonian, she loves this area and can often be found walking her dog, hugging a twisty tree on the coast, or swimming in the sea.

People & Place Officer – Laura Carolan

A member of the team since 2018 areas of work include managing the Sustainable Development Fund and Access for All grant programmes. In addition you can contact her for all things relating to communications, engagement as well as Arts & Culture. In her spare time Laura can often be seen swimming, biking and running and takes part in triathlons around the world.

Finding Nature’s Footprints Project Co-ordinator – Jess Giblett

Working on the Finding Nature’s Footprints project Jess is dedicated to connecting people with nature and advocating for its many benefits to mental and physical wellbeing. Through her work, Jess creates opportunities for others to explore, learn, and build meaningful relationships with the outdoors.

Having grown up in North Devon, she feels a deep connection to its stunning landscapes and finds it incredibly rewarding to help protect and share them for future generations. Outside of work, Jess enjoys wild swimming, foraging, and discovering new places along the North Devon coast.

Farming & Land Management Officer – Jemima Western

Jemima joined the team in Oct 2025 to oversee the Farming in Protected Landscapes programme. Before joining us Jemima worked as a the Farm Engagement Officer for the Mendip Hills National Landscape team as well for Somerset Wildlife Trust as the Mendip Hills Farm Cluster Facilitator.
