Dr Mya-Rose Craig also known as ‘Birdgirl’, is a young naturalist, ornithologist, birder, environmentalist, conservationist, activist, and writer. In this presentation she will be talking about her passion for wildlife and environmental issues and her work to help engage young people from visible minority ethnic (VME) backgrounds to connect with nature.

There will be a chance to pose your questions to Mya-Rose after her presentation. This talk will be hosted via Zoom and participants will receive the joining instructions shortly before the event.

About the Presenter:

Dr Mya-Rose Craig is Bristol European Green Capital 2015 Ambassador. She loves birding in her garden and locally at Chew Valley Lake, Somerset. She has been bird ringing (bird banding) at Chew Valley RS since Sept 2011, age 9 and got her C licence when she was 16. Her big passion is World Birding and she became the youngest person to see 5369th birds in Brazil in August 2019 which was 1/2 the world’s birds. She wants to combine her passion for nature & wildlife with her love of adventure to be a nature TV presenter and already appears regularly on television and radio.

Mya-Rose is the founder and president of the non-profit organisation Black2Nature which runs nature camps for black and minority ethnic children. In February 2020, she received an honorary doctorate in science from the University of Bristol. Her honorary degree was awarded in recognition of her advocacy for visible minority ethnic (VME) children and teenagers.
