A Braunton Countryside Centre Event

This promises to be a fascinating talk by Michael Gee, author of The Devon Orchard Book, about the history and development of orchards in Devon from the medieval drinkers plucking fruit from the hedgerows to the explosion of cider drinking and the orchards of the Tudors and Stuarts. After two centuries of decline, there is now a promising revival in establishing new orchards and preserving the tradition of growing and harvesting favoured varieties of fruit.
