Join the repair revolution! 🌍💚 Come along anytime 11am-2pm to Hand:Plant Cafe and Delta on Ilfracombe High Street to bring your items back to life, learn new skills, save money and the planet!
From 2025, Ilfracombe Repair Cafe is now operated by the wonderful Earth Repair Shop team with support from us at Earth Action North Devon.
Skills sharing:
Their skilled repairers are on hand to share their skills with you to take home – you can learn basic sewing, knitwear patching, visible mending and how to service your bike!
Repairs:
⚙️Sewing machine repairs eg tension adjustment and other small mechanicals
🚲 Basic bike repairs
🧵 General repairs, eg all and sundry – message [email protected] to check if you have a specific query!
👚 Textiles, eg replace zips and buttons (bring your own zips and buttons), simple alterations, visible darning
🧶 Knitting and crochet, wool garments, blankets, toys etc
💍 Basic jewellery repairs, eg twisted jump rings, restringing
However, as they rely on volunteers, they can’t always guarantee that all these skills will be available at every event – If you have any questions, email [email protected] at least 48 hours before the event to give them time to respond.

This is not a professional repair service, so please don’t bring ‘fancy’ repairs like wedding dresses – just drop Earth Repair Shop message if you’re not sure (see above email address).
☕The cafe will be open serving cake and hot drinks, should you wish to purchase, but there is no pressure or expectation to buy.
💸 Donations for the Earth Repair Shop are welcome but not expected.
💚 They’d love it if you could stay whilst they repair your items, Repair Cafes are about building community connection and sharing skills too.

We are always on the lookout for a few more volunteers, either to share their mending skills at the Cafes or to help out behind the scenes and welcome people on the day. You don’t need to be a professional seamstress or upholsterer or mechanic to volunteer – just someone with some basic skills who is happy to share what they know or a friendly welcoming face to help run the event. There is no pressure to undertake any repairs that you are not confident with.
