Join local naturalist Mary Breeds on a circular guided walk to explore the famous dunes of Braunton Burrows and discover the spring flora that is unique to this area.
No booking required. Suggested £4 donation* per person on the day.
Braunton Burrows lies at the heart of the North Devon Biosphere Reserve. Its sand dunes and damp slacks boast a unique, rich diversity of plant and animal life, with over 470 species of flowering plants (including 11 species of orchid alone). It is also home to a wide range of fauna – an abundance of insects that includes 33 species of butterfly, many nesting birds and 5 of the 6 reptile species found in the UK.
Renowned local naturalist Mary Breeds will lead a circular guided walk exploring the dunes and the flora that is special to this area. Starting at the Sandy Lane Car Park, the walk will follow paths through the Braunton Burrows, traversing some sand and uneven terrain but staying on relatively flat ground.
Please wear weather-appropriate clothing, bring a waterproof coat and sturdy walking boots as well as a drink, snack, and sun protection.
