Formerly the site of a medieval/post medieval Gristmill, Blackpool Mill cottage is all that now remains of the mill which dates back to at least the 16th century. Blackpool Mill has been the site of several film and television dramas including Sense and Sensibility in 2008 and Rosamunde Pilcher’s ‘The Shell Seekers’ with Vanessa Redgrave and Maximillian Schell. The nearby shingle cove is great for exploring too. HistoryAn 1807 reference to miller’s charges and presence on an 1864 ordinance survey map suggest it was still in operation until at least the end of the 19th century.
