Bull Point Lighthouse

Bull point lighthouse. Built in 1879 by r. T. Hookway at a cost of ú7,000 pound. Manned by 3 keepers. Foghorn. Light shows 3 white flashes. Reached by nearly 2.5km of new road. Relocated 1972 due to erosion.

On a beautiful stretch of coast path, the original lighthouse here was constructed in 1879 in response to the high number of wrecks along this treacherous stretch of coast. The lighthouse was replaced in 1974 after the headland subsided. After automation in 1995, the lighthouse keeper cottages are now let as holiday accomodation.
