BioBlitz 2024

Ilfracombe BioBlitz & Festival of Nature – 8th & 9th June 2024

Join us in Ilfracombe on the weekend of the 8-9th of June 2024 for our annual BioBlitz. Ilfracombe is a fantastic setting for nature and wildlife and we need your help to explore and record the hidden wildlife in the town’s green spaces. Join us as we search the parks, pavements, verges, churchyards, nature reserves, gardens, and coast to record and map as much wildlife as possible over the weekend!

A BioBlitz is a 24-hour event in which teams of volunteer scientists, families, students, teachers, and other community members work together to find and identify as many species of plants, animals, fungi, and other organisms as possible.

See the posters and detailed schedule below or email jamie.buxton-gould@devon.gov.uk for more information!

Saturday 8th June

Free, guided walks will be on offer across Ilfracombe. No need to book and no experience necessary. Simply pick your location and we will see you there.

Sunday 9th June

On Sunday the 9th of June we will be celebrating the wildlife of the town through the Festival of Nature. The “hub”, located at the Landmark Theatre, will include stalls from local organisations with a variety of free, family activities, local arts and music, all with an environmental theme. We will also be exploring the inner town through guided walks and shorter survey events including starting the day with Ilfracombe’s dawn chorus.
