The North Devon Coast AONB is defined by its Special Qualities. These are what make our AONB so special. There are 14 Special Qualities and for each of these we have chosen a place within the AONB where you can see what we mean.

Special Quality 5 –  Wild coastal scenery. In the north, hogsback cliffs of varying heights; in the south high, rugged cliffs, dramatic rock formations, exposed headlands, wave cut platforms and rocky coves.

Despite is northerly aspect into the Bristol Channel the coast between Morte Point and Ilfracombe is wild and rugged. This view is taken looking towards Lee Bay and shows the coastline with its Hogsback Cliffs and dramatic rock formations.
